Camp is fun. It's joyful. The
children who come have the time of their lives and form some of the
closest friendships they will ever have.
But our camps do more than this. We build character, we help
kids develop independence, and we instill a love of Judaism through
cultural experiences that are enjoyable and relevant even for kids
who have limited Jewish backgrounds when they first come to us. We
also teach skills, not just skills on the court or in the water or
in the arts, but also skills for working and living with others. We
enable children to grow as individuals and members of the society
in a comfortable, supportive environment.
We believe in singing and spirit, in creative programs that get
kids really excited and engaged, in experiencing the beauty and awe
of being in nature, and in creating a caring community where every
child is respected and appreciated.
While we are independent camps, each with its distinct
personality, we also work together in a unique collegial
relationship, sharing best practices and ideas so each of our
programs is as strong as it can be. As fellow beneficiaries of
UJA-Federation of New York, we consider ourselves partners in
helping children to thrive and to develop stronger Jewish
identities.
